Christmas 2006

Dec 26, 2006

Seems so long since the last x’mas… so much happened in a year.. Last yr was the most memorable one.. mixed feeling.. the one that J proposed but also the one the I thought I’m going to die from the bbq gathering =P

This year I promised myself to have a gd time!

Xmas mood from fri.. went J8 to get all the gifts and watch Night at the museum.. had gd laugh throughout the show..!

Had such gd time that I forgot abt tang yuan!!
Woke up the next day and remembered! Quickly called J to tell him..
then mum… made confusion that we forgot.. =P
She had reminded us time and again to eat tang yuan on fri.. hehe..
Lyn: Mi, I wanna tell u something..
Mummy: What?
Lyn: We forgot to eat tang yuan yesterday leh
Mummy: Hahahahhaha… you ar!?
Lyn: We go eat later.. ok?
Mummy: ok ok.. say it’s for yesterday har?!
We laughed….
(this’s our tang yuan episode)

Played santa after J came back frm his event.. waah! Din know he so lucky.. got a dvd player frm the lucky draw =P
Delivering the gifts.. giving surprises.. feeling was gd =) and we experience what It meant by ‘coincidence’..

Jus as we drove off frm my parent’s hse to his, we met his uncle and auntie.. J commented that this is ‘kua Zhang’.. like this also can meet people.. Then when we reach his place to deliver his sis’s gift, met his dad downstairs on his way to dinner.. waah, what else can happen.. =P told myself I must behave today.. wait got caught by pple.. hahahhaha….

Later that nite, we went to circuit rd for vegetarian food.. first time I have dinner there.. previously was when I got lost myself on the way to punggol.. =P had to take cab frm there..
Dinner there was something different.. ‘candle dinner’.. J said.. cos it’s oni the road lamps are the only light source.. food was not to my liking.. although it’s veg oyster and sweet and sour pork.. keke.. had to eat my custard puff to comfort myself.. hahahah..

No, we din forget tang yuan! We combed the whole hawker center but dun have.. so went back to feng shan hawker center to tabao!

X’mas eve but I still dun have my present?? J went out to get lunch.. but came home with raspberry cheesecake with a figurine in the box! First thing that came to my mind was.. har?! Food as gift again? =P then second thought was.. erm, is this like a surprise? Hahahhaha…. Anyway, the cheesecake was the yummiest I had ever!
7 cheesecake & bears

Before meeting C and C’s sec frens for dinner, went shopping.. got to choose what I want.. haha.. had our favourite ice-cream too =)
8 choco mint at parkway

Drizzling but din dampen our x’mas mood..
Every now and then, I feel that I play ‘do u dare’ game with myself.. hahah… not that difficult but still a challenge..
Something that I cun understand.. but still, for J, I go along.. Gathering with C’s sec classmates.. and it’s like.. a little weird..
Zhang Xue You.. went fly kite with his gf and aunt and din join us.. so J gather with C.. and I join the gather?? Hahahah… I’m talking lubbish!

Went east coast for seafood with the group of 9 including us.. self entertain myself half the time.. trying to get into the conversation the other half.. but I jus know that food was really good!! Hahahha…. After that, the rest went clubbing.. and we decide to sing K!

Can’t believe it.. me, J and C.. went singing..!! Had a fantastic time! Pretty high! Hahahaha….
C and J abit pissed with the staff there who came in now and then to disturb.. well, I was freezing and think my voice tremble with cold.. =P

Had to leave before midnite… so head to Jalan Kayu to greet ‘Ah nah’ Merry X’mas..!
Midnite clock strikes.. Class 95.. yeppie! Merry x’mas..
3 of us in the car..
C: Waah seh.. we celebrate x’mas in your car!
J: Merry x’mas (shake hands)
C and Me: Echoed.. (shake hands)
C: Special hor? This is what.. Tampines Ave 10.. okie.. rem that..
We laugh… (this is how we spend the first minute of x’mas)
Surprised that many pple at Jalan Kayu celebrating x’mas with ah nah.. hehe..
10 us after kbox
Bearlyn

More food?? Yep =D oysters.. paper steamboat at safra.. J did something there..
Looked at him and he jus grin.. hee..

Our honeymoon trip ~....

Belated but still… how can I forget to blog this down?!

1 Nov to 7 Nov 2006... Best of Honshu trip aka Central Japan
Many of you should have seen the photos that we took from our trip...
seems like Japan hour? Everything also take photos?? ... hahhahah.... I wanna remember the trip.. every detail and thru the photos,
it's like revisting the place all over again =D

At 5.30am, we set off for Changi Airport Terminal 1.. really excited abt the trip..
as usual, the last minute planning.. we got our gloves, lugguage bag, clothes packed 1 day before the trip..
deciding what clothes to bring and predicting the weather is such a challenge! hahahha..

At the airport, hahha, we are the first few to arrive.. the guide's not even there yet! He finally showed up.. a guy called .. erm, what's his name?? oh ya Jerry..
yea! the local Japanese guide thought he's name is 'Jelly'! until the last day...
Other members in the group are..
‘The branded couple’..
‘The beng couple’..
‘The quiet family’…
‘The xiao di di and ah ma’..
‘The cultured couple’..
‘The japanese coy ladies’..
‘The teachers’..
‘the sheng dian xia (leidia sum) look alike and hubby’..
Last but not least, the ‘lueng ge’ (two) local tour guide…

We were very quiet the first day.. and also the tour guide and leader din help us break the ice.. a little awkward though..
But throughout the trip, we grown to accustomed to each other and people have been helpful.. start to joke.. sharing food.. smiles appear =))
It’s great to learn about a country through a guided tour.. the itinerary was very good.. seen a lot of things.. experienced a lot..

The next trip to Japan will be free and easy… I hope there is a next trip =)

Some discoveries
Discovery 1: Tour groups need jus 1 thing to keep them happy.. ‘Supermarket’!! Strange right? But everynite when we moved to another hotel, the one thing they ask is.. is there supermarket nearby? So the guide will automatically let us know even without anyone ask after few nites.. hahahha

Discovery 2: Most used word in Japanese: ‘Pls give me..’ let me recall… I wrote it somewhere… hehe

Discovery 3: Popcorn buckets are favourite at theme parks.. locals will bring them and jus get ‘refills’.. it’s very nice..

Discovery 4: Many slot machine shops, many sex info shop, many many takoyaki!

Discovery 5: Very obedient Japanese.. never cross the road unless the traffic light turns green!

Some experiences and highlights:

Day 1 (Foodcourt at Narita) – the foodcourt uses a beeper concept.. after ordering the food, the vendor will pass us the beeper and when it’s ready, we just go there and exchange for the food =) I tried to figure out the beeper thing cos after I hand it over, it seems to stop beeping automatically.. But then was too nervous when it started beeping.. still a mystery to me =P

(2) Day 2 (Tokyo Disneyland & Tokyo nightlife) – once you step into the themepark, the feeling was waah!!!!!! The cinderalla castle welcomes and bring us to the fairytale story.. it awaits us in the park.. Japanese tourists all cheerful and wearing the mickeymouse bands and clips.. I also got the clips cos nothing to be shy about! Just so in the mood to have fun =)
There were many people and we din take many rides.. but the pirate of the carribean ride was great! The parade was so nice and people just singing and applauding… my favourite is Minnie’s house =)
After dinner, we went on the streets and had our first huge takoyaki there!

(3) Day 3 (Asakusa Kannon temple, Sea cruise & Odaiba bay, Toyota showroom, Shinjuku, Foot of Mt Fuji) – The temple and the street was another experience of Japan.. This is the first temple we went and more to go! The streets.. full of fascinating stuffs.. nice weather.. wonderful! Then the sea cruise where we were welcomed by the magnificent rainbow bridge and followed by ‘Statue of Liberty’! At Odaiba bay, it seems like a dog’s paradise =) so many cute doggies and a dog café.. people bashing under the sun enjoying the sun and nice weather =) Next is Toyota showroom.. J’s dad’s mark x has new model.. told him and he jokingly say he will get the new one and pass J this current one.. hahahhahah… Shinjuku is where the blacks are.. I mean the red light district where there’s fights and gangs… the tour guide wants us to stay close.. hehe.. so scary.. Dusk fall, we traveled up to mt fuji and checked into the hotel.. After the Japanese dinner, went on stroll to the ‘supermarket’! hehe.. then struggle a bit.. persuaded J to try the hot spring bath and we were glad we tried that! J also had a gd time showing me stunts with the chair in the room.. =P

(4) Day 4 (Mt Fuji, Wasabi Farm, Peace Park, Owakudani Boiling Valley) – Just before traveling up to the fifth station of Mt Fuji, we had some snaps at the Lake kawaguchi which is just in front of our hotel.. the Maple leaves were so pretty red =) We felt excellent after the Japanese breakfast and all ready to see the great Mt Fuji! It was beautiful up there.. coolld… but so happy! More temples there and it was 5 degree Celsius… silly us, nvr bring the gloves out.. hahahah… Experience was wonderful =) Next went down to wasabi farm… had wasabi ice-cream and bought a tube of wasabi.. hopefully we can have sashimi one day =P.. Peace park was a little boring.. but we were on our own exploring the park.. Lastly, the Owakudani Valley.. the famous volcanic area where they have eggs boiling in the boiling valley.. the sulphur made the eggs black =D Well, we traveling 2hrs to get up there and there was jam.. so.. very happy to be there =) it was very dark then.. even though oni 4pm there..

(5) Day 5 (Kingakuji Temple, Kyoto – Gion, Bullet train, Shin Osaka, Shinsaibahi) Temple – think it’s all the same after awhile.. but the garden was pretty =).. Kyoto Gion was very very authentic Japan.. the more traditional side of japan.. The bullet train trip was like a group excursion.. afraid that we will lose each other.. tension.. but enjoyable =) The train trip was so fun =) we reached Shin Osaka and went to this big shopping area at Shinsaibahi.. had shabu shabu there.. J had a gd feast of meat =P he’s a carnivore =D

(6) Day 6 (Universal Studio Japan) – After the experience at Disney, we requested for more time at this themepark =) went for spiderman ride, jaw ride, Jurassic ride and the best was the waterworld.. fantastic.. At the Jurassic ride, bought the ponjo (dunno how to spell it.. the raincoat).. hehe.. Trilling.. and used it again when it showers in the after and run in the rain to Hard rock café and the shopping complex there.. Where we found the Takoyaki museum =D J’s favourite.. he can eat so much of that.. =)

(7) Day 7 (Port of Kobe) – gusty wind.. first time I feel like being blown away.. we saw the earthquake area and everyone were sheltering from the wind.. sad that we are leaving… say cheer! Took a group photo at the harbourland…
Phew! Finally! After 1 month, I really wish to go back there again.. =)

Potluck at our home

Dec 19, 2006

Last weekend was indeed a memorable one....

I was so terribly bored and lonely last sat.. was msging pearlyn that day.. and I was on my way back from window shopping (alone after J dropped me at parkway).. on the train, I then realised how nice if i know how to drive.. then i can send him to his function at east coast and drive home myself..

Back home, I was so tired.. rested and so glad to receive gd news from pearlyn that sunday's gathering cum xmas party's still onz! So started testing the recipes that I wanna try the next day.... hahahha... how kiasu i am right? well, dun wanna serve the guests with horrible food lah.. =P

J came home real late.. past midnite.. eventhough he promise he to be home early =(

Well... so much of being alone at home.. but it's really nice to have a home of your own.. we are comfortably adapting to the environment =)

Sunday, we went marketing at our regular.. 'NTUC' hahahha... buy 5 packets of chicken thighs (grilled chicken), potatoes & mayo (intended to bake but think too much carbo.. so dropped the plan), broccoli (steamed broccoli and carrots), lean pork (my specialty sweet and sour pork).. etc..

After our lunch, I started preparing.. then last minute decide to make some custard puffs for starter and dessert.. hehe.. it was my first try on the custard and 3rd try on the puffs... with the 24yr old electric mixer that my mum hand over to me & the new oven i got ... ah and not forgetting.. the expert baker/chef... it was a success! so thankful it turn out well... at least i got praises that they are nice hor.. one of my fren thought it's frm polar leh =PP grinning *0*

Also prepared some more yummy bear christmas cookies for them =) wrapped in 'disco paper' (frm ntuc).. actually it's jus plastic wrapper with prints on it.. now then i know it's called disco paper.. hahhahah... learn something??!?!?

Pearlyn came.. then sharon.. finally Joleen and Wilson.. They made their way here.. despite of the heavy rain.. the couple are drenched as their ride their bikes here..
Our potluck party was full of yummies.. dunno why i din take any photos.. (shy lah) ah! will take photo of the leftovers tomorrow! can't stand myself.. wait for the photos to be posted!

Sharon's korean mayo salad --- yummy ungraded ( J din taste it.. hehe)
Pearlyn pizza -- yummy **** (4 stars)
Joleen fried bee hoon -- yummy ***1/2 (3 1/2 stars)
Lyn's grilled chicken -- yummy
Lyn's custard puff -- yummy
Lyn's sweet and sour pork -- yummy ungraded.. cos J scared I will pull his ears for saying the wrong thing ba...

After makan, we had small talks.. part of it was..
Joleen to J: can request for normal working hours like 8 to 5 right?
(Lyn walks out from kitchen and overheard.. quickly join into the conversation)
Lyn (pretending): Can ah can ah?? ist??
J to Joleen: No lah.. unless you dun wan a career there lah.. those are the condemn ones..
(Lyn thinking.. u wan a career there meh?)

Finale.. the gift exchange!
We did a shuffle on the gifts and like last yr, pick the numbers =)
I got a makeup pouch.. but using it as a carrier for handphone and stuff now =P
Glad sharon like the accessory I got =)

Monday is off day.. slept till 11.30am.. piggy haha... well, i have Wilbur on my wallpaper now! hahhaha....
bake some more custard puff for mummy.. she loves custard/durian puffs.. beginning of last nite's dinner, thought they wun finish the puffs.. but left only 4 from the dinner.. hehe.. think i made like 25? Went ikea alone and i feel like a part time 'tai tai'.. shopping on wkdays.. hahahhaha... bought some stuff there.. think i will always have something to buy from ikea.. then excited that i have a direct bus frm there to mummy's hse.. i deliver the custard puffs to her and dad =)

As usual, we talk and talk when we meet.. hehe.. always feel that it's equivalent to as much conversation i have with J for the whole week.. this batch of trial and error puffs are a bit too small lah.. so hahhah.. u know my skills.. well, see how long my baking craze will last this time 'quoted frm bel'.. =D

Finally.. 4 days before Joy comes home! so eager to catch up with her... ntez..

Dec 5, 2006

a new beginning.. new phase of life... so many 'happenings'.. I think I can write a book out of my own story..how can I not blog it!! hhahahahah... I still can't believe this has happened..

From S to M.. B to P.. B to H... (upgrade in alphabets) hahahahah... dun be confused by my silly remarks.. Single to Married.. Bedok to Punggol.. Boyfriend to Hubby..!! =D

Now, let's go back to 1mth and 3 days ago.. on the 29th Oct 2006! The day was WoW!! Never have I enjoyed so much being the limelight =) I admit that I love attention.. hehe... My dear jiemeis (aka angels).. they are the lovely angels whom were by my side from discussion at our new home.. to bunking overnite on my 'bachelorette nite'.. to helping me throughout the Wedding Day and Nite!! Muack!!

Wanted to note down the event of the day.. but i was so beri busy that day.. oni managed to scribble something.. 'my so-called secret' just before J comes to fetch me.. The day event are all in the photos that our brilliant photographer and Jackie took! Felt so 'high'! I may not be the prettiest bride.. but I think I enjoyed so much that made all these less impt.. keke, still impt lah.. that's why I go around asking for feedback on hw I looked..

Everything started as early as 2am in the morning.. and it was 24hrs non-sleep event.. =D luckily i still look vivacious (bubbly) at nite.. (feedback from a fren).. The attention that I had was great! not a bit of tiredness till the end of the day.. so happy that everything went on well and smoothly.. J was the 'man' of the say.. making sure things are planned and taken care of.. taking care of needs of guests.. everyone's needs but mine =P

All the preparation did not go to waste... jus that most of them are last minute decisions... we were lucky that our limited choices are gd choices =D The things that we have gone thru jus realised on this special moment.. From the selection of venue, the decision to solemnise at the dinner, the design of hse, the reno of hse, the deco of hse, the photographer scouting, the wedding gown, the food tasting, the menu selection, the phototaking, the photo selection, the parents meeting, the guo ta li, the bouquet choice, the wedding car, the car deco, the bears, the balloons, the wedding favours, the wedding card, the brothers & sisters, choice of invites, sending of invitations, videotaking, planning for the day schedule... dun think I missed anything.. yep, our parents helped us thru the preparation.. and they were as excited as us...

All the guests who were there were excellent! especially touched when Joy's parents back.. as well as my poly friends, my close jiemeis, my 'team' members and the lovely fsn.. hehe.. bosses also came that nite! At the end of the day, mummy still can't hold it but cried.. and this made me cry.. I hold my tears during the tea ceremony.. but then still.. hehe.. we hugged and I tell myself I must work hard to keep close...

Now Mother and Father are the new names that we have to get used to... consciously remembering not to call Auntie and Uncle.. and ops! a slip of tongue on an occasion!

So much for the big day.. more episodes to come..
the honeymoon... =D home alone... =( the first soup and many other soups... the first steam fish.. the first 'romantic dinner'...
stay tune =D
